Welcome to the Multiple Sclerosis Research Center of New York

The MS Research Center's mission is to conduct medical research directed toward finding the cause and eventual cure of multiple sclerosis. The Center's medical research is designed to understand all aspects of MS, including research at the cellular and molecular levels, in order to treat and cure MS.

Current research projects include genetics research in families with MS to define the role of Complex I variants in the neuro-degenerative process associated with inflammation in MS, and virology research to characterize the relationship between Epstein-Barr virus infection and development of MS. Our protein biology research projects include the role of fetuin A, ribonuclease A, and the C-terminal fragment of Integral Membrane Protein 2B; hormonal aspects of MS; immune mechanisms; and blood-brain barrier disruption and impairment. An especially exciting new research project involves the use of adult stem cells from the patient's own bone marrow for repair and regeneration of the myelin sheath that surrounds and protects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

We invite you to explore our web site and learn about our research facilities, activities, and publications, as well as professional and educational events, and opportunities to support our work.
